A book you may appreciate is Gamechanger, by L. X. Beckett. It's near-future sci-fi that posits that we're actually fixing the environment we fucked up, we've figured out immersive VR games (and they're a big thing!), and oh maybe someone's trying to break the system we made to ensure we could fix the world?
Reasons you might enjoy it! - One of the two lead characters is nonbinary - Polyamory is socially normalized, and one of the lead characters is in a polyamorous family (with a child) at the beginning of the story—and still gets a romance arc with the other lead - Said romance arc is rivals-to-friends-to-dating - Cool stuff about the nature of AI and what makes something sentient - I found it to have a really positive outlook on people and society, personally.
I think you also might want to check out the author Nicole Kornher-Stace, who has made it her life's work to publish books about friendship. Whether or not characters are explicitly aro-ace, she's writing as an aro-ace author and showing the kinds of relationships on-screen that she's interested in.
